Dual Citizenship

A 5 Year period is given to reacquire your Danish citizenship if you have lost it due to acquisition of a foreign citizenship.  The 5 year period commenced at 1 September 2015 and will end 31 August 2020.

How to apply to reacquire Danish dual citizenship.
You can reacquire your Danish citizenship by applying directly to The State Administration “Statsforvaltningen” - also from abroad.  You can also “against a fee”   forward your declaration to the Danish Embassy or Consulates.  For more information and guidelines click here.  NB information only in Danish

How to acquire your Danish passport.
You will be able to apply for a Danish passport at any Danish Embassy once The State Administration “Statsforvaltningen” has gone through your application and decided that you have reacquired your Danish citizenship.
