What does it cost to receive assistance from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Copenhagen or from Danish embassies and consulates abroad?
The Embassy's Current list of Fees
The Foreign Service can assist with a wide range of services. This includes for example assistance to citizens in distress and issuance of passports and visas abroad. As a starting point, fees are applied for any request for assistance, whether the call is made to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Copenhagen or to an embassy or consulate abroad.
For some services, the fees depend on the hours spent, while for others there is a fixed fee. The fee regulation is determined in the Ministry of Foreign Affair's fee notice (in Danish Gebyrbekendtgørelse).
The fee is determined on the basis of the actual amount of hours spent, unless otherwise clearly stated in the fee notice. You can see the hourly rate on the fee list above.
Payment for, for instance, issuing of passports and visas are according to a fixed fee.
Elevated fee rates
If the need arises for assistance outside the Embassy’s normal working hours, the fee is increased by 50% and with 100%, if assistance is required on days when the Embassy is closed.
Recovery of costs
In addition to the fee, any additional specific costs incurred as part of the service, such as for items procured and necessary use of courier mail, must be reimbursed.
All fees must be paid in Malaysian ringgit (MYR) equivalent based on the actual exchange rate on the day of transaction.
